Itinerary Haunted Scotland July 1st - July 9th 2010 (8 days)

July 1st – Thursday - Day 1:

Arrive in Edinburgh by 10am.
After settling into our hotel, we will meet for a short exploration of Scotland’s Capitol City.
The world-renowned Witchery Restaurant will host dinner. The Witchery’s ghoulish past is the perfect place for our welcoming evening. The Witchery Tour begins after dinner for those who want to join.

Overnight in Edinburgh.

July 2nd – Friday - Day 2:

We begin the day by touring Edinburgh Castle, which holds a wealth of Scottish history as well as the Crown Jewels.

After lunch we are off to the Palace of Holyrood House, haunted by Mary, Queen of Scots, and others. At night, we will take a tour of Mary Kings Close, where we’ll hear tales of the spirits who wander these hidden streets beneath the city. We will have a Pub Dinner at the White Heart Inn after the tour.

Overnight in Edinburgh.

July 3rd – Saturday - Day 3:

In 1679, 1200 Covenanters were imprisoned in Greyfriars Kirkyard pending trial. The Covenanter’s Prison, contained inside the Kirkyard, is reputed to be one of the most haunted places in the world and we will tour this historical place today. Afterward, we will make the short drive to Rosslyn Chapel to explore this legend in stone that some believe contains the Holy Grail. Enjoy some free time for afternoon shopping before we dine at Haldanes, winner of Edinburgh’s restaurant of the year and city chef of the year.

After dinner, we will brave the spirits of Old Town with a private tour that ends with a descent into the vaults beneath South Bridge.

Overnight in Edinburgh.

July 4th – Sunday - Day 4:

Today we travel to Glasgow. We will take a leisurely tour of some of the sites around this famous architectural city before checking into the hotel. We will dine at the famously haunted Cathedral House Hotel and, after dinner, enjoy a haunted Glasgow city tour.

Overnight in Glasgow

July 5th – Monday - Day 5:

We visit the Glasgow Cathedral, one of the most complete cathedrals in Scotland having escaped the reformation, and Necropolis, an ancient burial ground which is believed to be the most haunted area of the city.  Late afternoon we travel to Stirling.

Overnight in Stirling.

July 6th – Tuesday - Day 6:

We begin our day in Stirling, where spirits abound. Of all the castles in Scotland, the magnificent fortress of Stirling Castle is probably the most important in terms of its strategic position.

In olden times it was generally believed that whoever controlled Stirling Castle would control Scotland! The Castle is haunted by several ghosts, and we will hear their stories and attempt to meet them. In the afternoon we will have some free time to stroll the village of Stirling for shopping and sightseeing.

Overnight in Sterling.

July 7th – Wednesday - Day 7:

After breakfast in Stirling, we travel to Dunfermline to visit the ancient abbey built in 800 A.D. This is the famous burial place of King Robert the Bruce and others. You will hear the amazing history and stories of the spirits who still wander. In the afternoon, we make the short drive to meet up with the Association Of Paranormal Investigators of Scotland (APITS). We will have exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the Boreland Lodge to accompany “APITS” investigators through the hotel. We will brave the spirits that evening as we overnight at the lodge.

July 8th – Thursday - Day 8:

We journey east today and take in what is believed to be the most haunted castle in Britain, Glamis Castle. The Castle is best known for it's connection with Shakespeare's MacBeth and also for being the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. This afternoon we visit Arbroath Abbey, a Tironesian monastery where the Declaration of Arbroath was signed which asserted Scotland's independence from England. We will dine nearby and journey back to Edinburgh to overnight.

July 9th – Thursday - Day 9:

We bid farewell to Scotland and transfer to Edinburgh airport for our homeward journey, grateful for all that we experienced.
